Our main focus is to build up an Eritrean-German medical partnership, with the Post Graduate Medical Education (PGME) Program and the Asmara College of Health Sciences (ACHS), in order to support the medical education, as well as to improve the infrastructure in the Orotta National Referral Hospital, Asmara.
For Eritrea / Human Plus
2015 Signing the Memorandum of Understanding between ACHS, For Eritrea / Human Plus and Collaborating Center for Postgraduate Training and Research in Reproductive Health (Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg Germany).
2014 Planning for setting up a Dysplasia Center in coorperation with the Ministry of Health, Orotta Maternity Hospital. Prof. Horst-Michael Runge (teaching experience in midwifery and obstetrics and gynecology in developing countries) joins the projects as a consultant.
2013 Since September, this medical support has been running under its own identity under the name ‘For Eritrea’ and has extended assistance. It consists now of the following projects: Gynaecology/Obstetrics, Pathology, Oncology, Plastic Surgery, Anaesthesiology and Documentation.
2012 In January activities started with the project ‘Gynaecology/Obstetrics’ headed by Dr. Kirsten Graubner, which constituted the medical part of the initiative ‘My Eritrea’.
2005 Dr. Ulf Bauer, a Hand Surgeon from Hamburg, went for the first time to Asmara, the capital city of Eritrea. For many years he operated under German organisations helping children: Hammer-Forum and ArcheMed. After meeting Dr. Traudl Elsholz and visiting the Maternity Clinic of the Orotta National Referral Hospital he decided to create a structure in order to help adults and especially women.
Thanks to Mr. Anestis Ioannidis (President of Human Plus e.V.) who helped us from the beginning in integrating our Team in his organisation.
